Virtual Field Trip: Park and Palace of Pena

Ready to travel? To virtually explore the world? Join us on an adventure to the Park and Palace of Pena.

Located in Portugal and built from the ruins of a monastery, the palace sits high above, in the Sintra Mountains. The palace was a summer home for King Ferdinand and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site used by the Portuguese government to host functions and meetings.

See our video tutorial on using Google to explore the Park and Palace of Pena. Below is the process step-by-step, additional activities and library resources.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Google Park and Palace of Pena. Click on the map view.

Zoom in close to the palace and pick up the street view tool and select a location along a blue line to drop Pegman.

Explore by clicking on the arrows and x’s to virtually explore the palace. Some lines of the street access are divided so use the back arrow at top left to go back to the map and drop street view tool again in another part of the palace.
