Celebrate Diwali

Diwali, the Festival of Lights, is a major holiday celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs and Jains around the world to mark new beginnings and the triumph of good.

You can celebrate Diwali with us through stories, by making diyas and toran, and henna on Sunday, October 24 from 2-3:30 pm at Schimelpfenig Library. This program is ticketed, so show up 30 minutes beforehand to get your ticket.

Diyas are lamps usually made from clay with a wick. For Diwali, houses are usually decorated with diyas places around entrances and boundaries. Toran is a traditional hanging seen in Indian households during festive occasions, like Diwali.
