Chinese Storytime 家庭故事会

Plano Public Library will offer immersive Chinese Storytimes this summer. Come for stories, songs, and activities presented entirely in Chinese. Chinese Storytime helps children from 0 to 5 years old develop early literacy skills while also being great fun for the whole family. The first Chinese storytime this summer is on May 4

Davis Library, Thursdays, 6:30pm

May 4 | June 1 | July 6 | August 3

Introduction to a new language at an early age is beneficial to all children. If an immersive storytime sounds challenging, check out our Storytime Around the World series, which leans more toward bilingual presentations with no need for language skills from the audience.

Chinese-speaking adults can also connect with fellow members of the community by joining the Chinese Book Talk club online. Did you read a great Chinese book recently? Or perhaps an unforgettable book you’ve read years ago? Please share your insight with other readers!

Chinese Book Talk 中文书谈论会

Virtual, Thursdays, 7pm

May 11 | June 8 | July 13 | August 10

Explore Our Chinese Collection

The ever-growing Chinese collection, with materials in both Simplified and Traditional characters, consists of more than 10,000 titles. The collection offers materials to both adults and children. The collection contains both print and media resources, fiction and non-fiction, board books, picture books, and early readers for young children, as well as titles for older children and adolescents. Plano Public Library’s newly acquired VOX books — children’s books with read-along audio devices — also include exclusive titles in Chinese.

Adult readers will find contemporary bestsellers and classic literature from various Chinese-speaking regions of the world in Plano Public Library’s adult Chinese collection. You can also browse dozens of digitized Chinese serial publications in PressReader. The PressReader digital collection includes the latest issues of magazines and newspapers from all over the world. Find current information on art, business, technology, science, and travel that is especially relevant to Chinese readers. Programs such as Chinese Storytimes, Storytime Around the World, and Chinese Book Talk, as well as the continuous development of the world language collections, are made possible by PPL’s diverse staff. We are mindful of connecting resources to library visitors of diverse linguistic backgrounds.

Ask us about our programs, collections, and resources during your next visit, and please don’t be shy to ask for assistance from a staff member that may speak your language. 期待您的光临 —— that means “looking forward to your visit!”
